The movie "Pirates of The Caribbean" has heralded nothing but success. It won the Peoples Choice Award for - most popular actor - Johnny Depp. Also the movie is now the biggest selling DVD ever .The success of the movie was felt no more so than in St.Vincent itself as most Vincentians were positively affected by the filming of the movie in their homeland. Not only did "Pirates" give Vincentians a chance to play a role on screen it also provided many job opportunities. Disney was "very pleased" with the filming in St.Vincent. With the huge success of this movie St.Vincent is now considered a "movie location" of international standards.
The bay of Wallilabou was transformed into Port Royal of yester year and the set still remains for those wishing to soak up some of the Hollywood magic. The Black Pearl which sails the waters of the movie is now gone but the memory still lives on in the minds of Vincentians on the Leeward side of the island who saw this ghostly movie prop sail by day after day back in 2003. We know Disney had a choice of Caribbean Islands and are very glad they choose us for filming of Pirate of the Caribbean.
